Sewing Books
I don't always read the sewing books that I buy.
Don't get me wrong - I use the "complete guides" (all 3 of them!) and the "More Fabric Savvy" book as reference material when I have a question or am stuck on something. And I've made projects out of the "Sew What! Skirts" and "Stupid Sock Creatures" books. I've even picked up some tips from the Palmer & Pletsch book, the "Serger Secrets" book and the fit books.
But the truth is, I haven't gotten as much out of my mini-library as I should. How about you - do you buy sewing and fit books? Do you read them through from cover to cover?

Yeah...I read them...maybe not cover to cover...and I have accumulated quite a library. But what I find most helpful is when I have an issue or a challenge, I have a reference to help me figure it out...so my sewing library is invaluable to me!
When I buy them, I read them cover to cover. But after one year, if I haven't picked it up or may never pick it up again to actually use, out it goes.
Gives me more room for the books I keep buying and eventually the ones I really use.
i rarely buy a sewing book. the ones i do are more like project books (such as In Stitches by Amy Butler) or are like school books (Armstrong's patternmaking book). i don't own any fitting books!
I thumb through them cover to cover, but I don't read them. I just use them when I need something specific.
Yes, I read them from cover to cover. I don't always practice from them however. But do refer to them often.
I buy them faithfully, and have an extensive library. I used to read new purchases over and over again. Now new, as well as old, purchases languish unread after the initial quick read. But I won't give a single one up and I do use them for reference as needed.
