I have 3 jobs - two of which I adore and the third from chance. Even though the 3rd is not my choice, the other two are. I find some interesting things happen among the three tasks: when I have to work on the 3rd, it's "work"; when I have to work in the 1st company, it's fun, when I have to work on the 2nd - which is in its formative stages - I'm overloaded with ideas (which is fun and nerve-wracking).

Having the 3rd job contrast the other two; it helps keep the first 2 fun and enjoyable. I'm not sure I would feel that way if I had just the first 2 jobs.

The point is that even tho job #1 & #2 are fun and enjoyable, I always have job #3 to help keep the perspective of fun for #1 & #2....hope that makes sense. If I didn't have #3, I would have to work very hard and realizing how much fun #1 & #2 were.

And fun is sort of the difference between "work" and "play". I always wanted to work at something I love, cause the work would almost always be long and hard, and if it was in something I loved doing, then it would make the work all that much more pleasurable

2010 is the start of a new decade, and for some unknown reason I feel full of promise and hope and prosperity - in a completely different way that what I have ever experienced. I can not put my finger on it....yet, but I do feel it very strongly.

All we sewing bloggers deserve to not only enjoy our art, but also to protect it and keep it new, fun, rewarding and joyful. I can't think of a greater goal or task to set.ClaireOKChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05794385586295229490noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-704085174347222254.post-2736959835796549952010-01-02T22:15:05.926-05:002010-01-02T22:15:05.926-05:00I'm a bit backwards, I guess... I did set some general goals for both sewing and overall craftiness (both '09 and for this year), but I don't make resolutions for anything else in my life!Beckyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09913795373618902575noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-704085174347222254.post-70524044103419987582010-01-02T08:41:43.435-05:002010-01-02T08:41:43.435-05:00Nah, I figure I'll do it when I do it or it...Nah, I figure I'll do it when I do it or it's not a big deal.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-704085174347222254.post-22323836698243097282010-01-01T16:40:49.538-05:002010-01-01T16:40:49.538-05:00I've blogged about this already, but I like ha...I've blogged about this already, but I like having goals. So, I guess those are some goals. I never know what will come up in between all of those events though.juliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12423393733607579888noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-704085174347222254.post-41617234761797947302010-01-01T11:32:27.406-05:002010-01-01T11:32:27.406-05:00I do make resolutions/set goals-they keep me focus...I do make resolutions/set goals-they keep me focused. I did ...I don't make resolutions or set goals. I did when I was younger. But now, I'm content. As for sewing goals--I don't set those either, because for me, it just means stress. I sew, when I sew. And enjoy. Good goals would be to make the most of your hobby by taking on what is most important to you. Like Cindy posted above, there isn't much room on the plate. Only put what is most important on that plate. There are a ton of things I could sew but I work full-time, attend school part-time, and have little time left after all of that. I did set some goals for 2010 with regards to my sewing: (1) Use up my fabric stash. (2) Sew wardrobes, not separates. (3) Sew for 1 hour each day. (4) Learn new sewing techniques. (I'm currently working my way through the Singer Complete Photo Guide to Sewing.) I think all of these goals will help me enjoy my hobby more because I will finish more projects, they will be better constructed, and I will get more use out of each project. Best wishes for smarter sewing for everyone in 2010!Juliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15283318998385718706noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-704085174347222254.post-76441036784888559532010-01-01T08:55:25.934-05:002010-01-01T08:55:25.934-05:00I always try to look at the good things both futur...I always try to look at the good things both future and past but I must say I'm happy to wave goodbye to last year. I feel a breath of fresh air (I felt it last year too - was more from Jan 20th than anything - the feeling of hope.)

Goals are more about living in the moment. Taking care of what's on your plate today. Usually putting on your plate that which is most important to you and there isn't much room on the plate. Now if I can only make room for better health. :) Something I will strive for in twenty ten. The older we get the harder it is to stay healthy.

HAPPY NEW YEAR
Hope you have many enjoyable sewing moments!Zephttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03682731203511053192noreply@blogger.com
