Friday Confession

So, the LAST thing I should be thinking about is more sewing projects, but my mind is wandering to projects that I might make as Christmas gifts for my friends and co-workers... I have a couple of ideas, which I'll show you soon. ;)

But first, I wanted to ask - what about you? Will you be making any Christmas presents this year? If so, what and for whom? And, have you started yet? I'm looking forward to hearing about your holiday sewing plans!

I am making pot holders. My grown family members are notorious for stained ratty ones. I usually make a small quilted pattern with appropriate to the receiver fabrics. They also make good holders for cash for the nieces and nephews who have their own places now.

No. No way. You can't make me :)

Yes, I am making a few. Two years ago, I made my niece (now 8 y0) a lined bathrobe. She has outgrown it and her mother has requested a new. My nephew (now 2 yo) got some soft pants two years ago when his mother didn't think much of homemade clothes - but she has requested a new pair JUST like the ones I made then. And then doctor's dress-up clothes for him as well.

And then I need to think up a joke for my bother.

Compared to last year, I don't have very many to make - but I might go nutty mid-December.

I want to make bible covers. But... I don't know if it will happen because I'm so busy.

I used to mass produce gifts but not anymore. Occasionally someone will mention that there's something they would like or want and I'll make it.

No, no, and no. I find it stressful to sew gifts for holidays. I just don't do it.

I have started to think about it, but I haven't started to make anything yet. The only project decision I've made so far is that I will crochet a pot-holder for the gift exchange at work.

For several years now, I've made a group gift for family and friends --multiple items of many different fabrics, a "choose your own" gift selection. Last year, I made 25 Singlet Shopping Bags and they were such a hit with requests for more, that I am making them this year. Three a day, using fabrics that require the same thread color is the most efficient. http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=260655.0

My best girlfriend has fallen on hard times and since she was helpful to me years ago when I was struggling, I am making her a series of camp-style shirts in jewel tones. She has received one this week and will receive more during the Holidays.

I am trying not to think about Christmas. Though I probably should be.

In the past I have made various things for fammily, work colleagues and friends (coin purses, aprons, tissue holders). I wil have to put my thinking caps on if I want to sew somethings for my colleagues, but I know that my Mum could do with some new aprons.

I started working on Christmas gifts in May when I sprained my ankle and couldn't walk much. I have since then been working on finishing them between other projects. For our parents, I am making lap quilts. Two just need binding and the third needs quilting then binding. I used charm packs so it went faster. I just hit upon what I consider a great mass gift thought, earlier this week, but I better test it out first before I share it. If it works out, I will be making a bunch of them for other family members.

I am making necklaces and earrings. For people I love who I know would wear them. That's about it!
