Bias Tape

I have never made my own bias strips.

It doesn't look that hard. There are cool gadgets to help. You can use all kinds of neat fabric and get really cute bindings!
I need to try it.

How about you? Have you ever done it? Is it difficult? Fun?

Super easy! Get a couple of different sizes of the clover ones and go for it. Very satisfying to make something that is better quality than the packaged tape and that matches exactly!

What a coincidence! I just bought one of these last Saturday in the city; you so rarely see them in stores like Joann's. Can't wait to use it.

It's easy! And so much better than limiting yourself to the pre-packaged options. I got a bias tape maker at a thrift store a while back, but I've heard great things about the Clover tools too.

I have to keep admiting that I haven't done something. I have every size bias tape maker but have not used them. I'll have to follow the advice left here and "go for it". ;o)

I make my own bias strips quite a bit. That's only because I'm picky about having things match, and I really don't find it that time consuming. I have a couple of Clover tools, but usually I just figure out what size strips I want (depending on the type and size of binding) and rotary cut the strips.

I can not remember the last time I bought bias tape. Yes it is ridiculously easy. It does take time to cut out. I also prefer the rotary cut and pieced together method over the cut a big long worm from a tube method. But you can get the exact fabric/weight/color/width to go with your project when you DYI. I do use the Clover thingies to press the folds with on occasion.

Plus, yes you can go crazy and have fun with stripes, plaids, prints, etc. Very fun!

Also, you can make your own piping with your bias strips and some rayon or cotton cord.
